The position requires background in Computer Graphics/VR/AR to support our efforts to continue developing software technology used to model the space environment and complex space systems for astronaut training, extra-vehicular activity (EVA) planning and review, and future human exploration vehicle design review. We are building the team that will take astronauts back to the Moon and on to Mars and are looking to add a computer scientist or engineer to our team.

This may include the use of weekly reviews, additional written performance evaluations, and increasing the opportunity for the employee to participate in formalized training programs to increase skills and competencies.Īssistive Technology continues to be among the highest training priorities for staff in BESB VR, particularly since adaptive equipment is so often a component of success on the job for clients served by BESB VR. If an employee is found to need additional assistance and training in order to meet the job requirements, then a plan for improvement is developed. Technical assistance on policies and procedures is also provided during individualized meetings and during staff meetings. The Supervisor of BESB VR meets with staff members regularly to assist with any areas of their job performance that could benefit from further development and to provide feedback on best practices that have proven to be effective in-service delivery. Each employee of BESB VR receives at least one written evaluation per year, which is consistent with collective bargaining agreements.

Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors work directly with their supervisor to identify areas for professional growth and development each year. Program staff members are encouraged to identify training areas of particular interest for their individualized professional development in addition to BESB VR identifying programmatic training categories for staff to participate in to remain current in the field of rehabilitation.

BESB VR Update: BESB VR makes available a full range of training programs offered through public and private entities such as the Technical Assistance Centers, Rehabilitation Services Administration, the Council for State Administrators of Vocational Rehabilitation (CSAVR), and the National Council of State Agencies for the Blind (NCSAB).
